Joshua Silverstein
Joshua Silverstein is a multifaceted artist, educator, and DEI consultant based in Los Angeles, California. With over two decades of experience, Joshua has established himself as a celebrated performer, beatboxer, poet, and community leader, inspiring audiences and students alike.
As a DEI consultant since 2017, Joshua works with organizations and institutions to foster inclusivity and understanding. He is a sought-after keynote speaker, delivering thought-provoking talks for synagogues, TEDTalk, and the USC School of Communication.
Joshua is the founder, producer, and host of Reflection, a curated monthly showcase that celebrated multi-genre artistry and provided an immersive experience spotlighting diverse creators. His event production expertise also includes high-profile Los Angeles events like Brave New Voices and the Get Lit Slam, both of which amplify the voices of emerging young poets and performers. He continues to co-host the Emmy award winning Downbeat 720, now in its twenty-second year in the city of Santa Monica.
Named by the Jewish News Service as “one of the best beatboxers in the world,” his beatboxing skills landed him the title of “first beatboxer of Late Night” with his recurring role on The Late Late Show from 2016-2019. His performing credits span international stages, collaborating with artists and organizations worldwide. He was a featured performer in Norman Lear's Declare Yourself USA Tour and was one of the first Hip Hop artists to tour Kuwait with the US State Department.
In education, Joshua has made significant contributions as a teacher, counselor, and curriculum developer. He has also taught K–12 students in cultural arts, poetry, and animation through the S.T.A.R. program and facilitated theater and spoken word workshops at UCLA and other academic institutions.
His dedication to the arts is matched by his technical expertise as an event producer and host for various theatrical and musical productions. A passionate advocate for youth empowerment, his work has consistently included mentoring young artists and directing various forms of productions.
Joshua’s work continues to bridge communities, spark dialogue, and inspire change, making him a transformative figure in both the artistic and social spheres. He brings all of his expertise to his role as Director at Caz, drawing on his vast experience in all facets of arts education and community organizing.
Cinthya Silverstein
Cinthya is a Mexican immigrant, visual activist and award-winning photographer whose work is deeply rooted in photography as a tool for the analysis of visual culture. Her degree in Anthropology and continued post-grad education in Visual Studies help her build on her creative practice to create a teaching approach that intersects arts praxis with cross-disciplinary theoretical frameworks.
As Director of Cultural Programs at Sovern LA, an art-focused, community-centered Non-Profit that centers Black, Brown, Indigenous Women+, Cinthya has developed an ability to create culturally relevant programming around the arts while emphasizing community building within her community. She has been a mentor and Teaching Artist for Las Fotos Project and served as Teaching Artist at Caz in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2022.
As Operations Manager at Caz, she works closely with the Director to dream big and plan for a bright Caz future.
